Scottish Rugby and Glasgow Life are pleased to announce details of a direct shuttle bus service to help supporters make their way to and from the inaugural Emirates Airline Glasgow 7s this May.
Running regularly from Glasgow’s city centre direct to Scotstoun Stadium, ticket holders can bolt on the cost of the shuttle service for just £2 return for adults and £1 return for children. The buses will operate to and from Buchanan Bus Station throughout the day to make travelling to the event as easy and convenient as possible.
There are just three days to go until the close of the Early Bird offer with fans able to pick up a day ticket for the Emirates Airline Glasgow 7s for just £10. (Offer closes Saturday 17 March). More than 10 thousand tickets have already been sold the Emirates Airline Glasgow 7s, an event which is a two day party and festival of rugby. With around 30,000 people expected to make their way to the venue over the weekend of May 5 and 6, supporters are being urged to ease the strain on the public transport system and take up the option of the 7s Priority Shuttle.
As well as the dedicated shuttle bus, Park and Walk schemes will also be introduced, at a cost of £2 for fans who have no other option but to bring a car. The park and walk sites will be in official stewarded areas within a 20-minute walk of the venue, although spaces will be limited. All routes to and from the stadium will be clearly marked to make getting to Scotstoun as easy as possible.
The Emirates Airline Glasgow 7s will be the first chance for rugby fans in Glasgow to see the best in the world in the heat of battle. It will be a first visit to the city for the reigning series champions, the All Blacks, with South Africa, Fiji, France and Australia amongst the core teams.
A spokesman for Glasgow Life said: "The Glasgow 7s will be one of the best sporting events to be held in the city this year, with tickets already selling fast. The introduction of a dedicated shuttle bus service and park and walk schemes will ensure the thousands of spectators will be able to make their way to and from Scotstoun Stadium as conveniently as possible.
"It will also ease the burden on the public transport network and minimize disruption to local residents. The Emirates Airline Glasgow 7s will be a world-class event and we want everyone to share in that experience."
Dominic McKay, Director of Communications and Public Affairs at Scottish Rugby, said: "We're delighted to announce this service for fans coming to the Emirates Airline Glasgow 7s. We want to make it as easy as possible for everyone to get to the event.
"Tickets are selling really well and as we've moved to Scotstoun Stadium we want to ensure no one misses out on what will be an incredible weekend."
