London 2012 Olympic bronze medallist Kristian Thomas today encouraged the public to mark 8 December 2012 in their diaries as tickets for the prestigious Glasgow World Cup Gymnastics went on sale.
Following Olympic bronze with the men’s gymnastics team in the summer, Kristian Thomas is now aiming for World Cup glory back on home soil as he prepares for the highly anticipated Glasgow World Cup in December. Pitching the top 8 male and female gymnasts from around the world in a one day all-around competition, the World Cup is one of the highlights of the gymnastics year and with the 2012 event at the newly built Commonwealth Arena, Kristian is expecting a fantastic competition
He said: “It’s a great honour and privilege for me to be invited to compete at the Glasgow World Cup, up against the top 8 all-around gymnast in the world. A great opportunity to put myself up against the best and of course perform once again in front of an amazing home crowd
“At the Olympics the crowd really was like having an extra team member, encouraging us when things didn’t go to plan and cheering us on when things went well ,so I’m definitely looking forward to having that kind of support again in Glasgow.”
The Glasgow World Cup takes place at the city’s spectacular new £113m Commonwealth Arena on 8th December with big crowds expected to cheer on Kristian and his competitors, who will be confirmed in the coming weeks
“I’ve heard amazing things about the venue and can’t wait to see what it’s like, and feel the atmosphere.” added Kristian “I go into every competition with high expectations, and after the Olympics of course there is that extra expectation but I’m already working hard for it and know that on the day I’ll be fully prepared to put on a great show for the crowd.”
