Part of Glasgow ‘Host Council’ Cultural Programme
From 25th July to 3rd August Glasgow’s Hamden Stadium will host 8 London 2012 football matches as part of the men and women’s Olympic football tournaments.
As part of our hosting of these events and to contribute to the London 2012 experience for ticket holders, Glasgow Life will make the streets and city come alive with the buzz and excitement of London 2012.
The programme will reach into the city centre transport hubs at Central Station and Buchanan Street, and all the way out to the south side and the streets around Hampden as part of the Last Mile programme.
Music, dance and street theatre will pop up along the journey to and from the Olympic football matches, bringing a sense of buzz and celebration to the streets and spaces around the stadium and in the city centre. Specially commissioned work for pre-match crowds will entertain and help them as they make their way to the stadium. There will also be opportunities for local artists and organisations to create entertaining ways to welcome visitors to their local neighbourhood.
