Glasgow Arts Supporting the Arts in Glasgow
Glasgow Arts* supports the development of arts and cultural activity in the city through supporting individual artists, performers and arts organisations and through actively encouraging access and participation in the arts among the widest possible range of people. The team is also responsible for the artistic programme and a range of educational and participative opportunities at Tramway and Trongate 103.
The Glasgow Arts* Team works in 3 main ways:
Cultural Grants - Glasgow City Council awards grants totalling over £3 million each year. The Glasgow Arts team is responsible for assessing applications, recommending awards and monitoring the progress of projects.
Events and Activities - Glasgow Arts* Officers undertake a range of development projects which both support the professional arts community and the development of new and existing audiences for the arts. The majority of these projects are delivered in partnership with other agencies and organisations, and aim to fill gaps in arts provision.
Arts Information - Glasgow Arts* publishes a number of leaflets, directories, newsletters and factsheets dealing with the arts in Glasgow. The team also respond to specific requests for advice and information on a wide range of arts related activity and also issue the Calendar of Festivals and Events.
