The 2013 edition of the British Cycling National Road Race Championships will provide spectators with fantastic opportunities to view the action. Whether you want to watch the riders race against the clock during the Time Trial or line the Road Race route as the peloton rockets through Glasgow city centre, opportunities to see Britain's best will be plentiful. 

ITV4 will broadcast highlights of the British Cycling National Road Race Championships on Monday 24th June from 7pm. Don't miss it!

Time Trial - 20th June

The streets of East and North Ayrshire will come alive as the country’s top cyclists compete in the Time Trial event as part of the British Cycling National Road Race Championships, in and around Stewarton. 

For the first time ever the British National Road Race Championships and Time Trial events will be held simultaneously and Stewarton will play host to some of the biggest names in cycling. Click here to download the Time Trial route map. 

The Time Trial will start and finish on Dalry Road in Stewarton, near to Stewarton Sports Centre, with the first competitors leaving the start line at 3.30pm and the final competitors crossing the finishing line at approximately 8.30pm.

Road Race - 23rd June 

For the first time ever the National Road Race event will take place entirely within a major UK city, providing many fantastic ways to watch the action. Check out the Road Race course map to review our recommended spectator viewing areas around the route. Watch the race through picturesque Kelvingrove Park, see the riders take over Buchanan Street or ​​​​blast down High Street on the way to the finish line at Glasgow Green.  And the best part - it's completely free to watch!

Road Race start/finish hub - 23rd June

The start and finish area for the National Road Race will be at Glasgow Green, just a few minutes walk from Glasgow city centre. Both the men's and women's Road Races will set off from the Glasgow Green hub and spectators will be able to view the riders as they complete their laps, ticking down to the final sprint for victory. 

Not only will you get the chance to see the best cyclists in the country up close as they race, the hub at Glasgow Green will also be the location for the podium celebrations as the 2013 National Champions are crowned. Plu​​​s the hub will have cycling activities, entertainment and paid food and drink concessions to keep the whole family engaged throughout the day. 

Get involved with Scottish Cycling

Feeling inspired watching the racing? Scottish Cycling will be offering chances for younger riders to come and try out some bike racing for free n our come and try sessions. There will be a short course set out on Glasgow green for youngsters to come and have a go at bike racing in a safe and fun way. Qualified UKCC Cycling coaches will be on hand to give you all the information you need to take part. All you will need your Parent or Guardian with you to sign the consent form before you ride. We will have some bikes and helmets for you to borrow but if you have  your bike and helmet with you at the event you can use them. Races with be run throughout the day so come along for a great chance to try out bike racing. There also be information on clubs and racing opportunities across Scotland so you can find out what is happening near you this summer and get involved.
