Travel to Glasgow

Travel by Air

Glasgow is served by three international airports – Glasgow International, Glasgow Prestwick and Edinburgh International with direct flights from 130 destinations worldwide.

 

Glasgow International Airport​ is located 15 minutes from the city centre with frequent direct services available from UK destinations including Birmingham, Bristol, Cardiff, East Midlands, Exeter, Leeds, Manchester, Newquay, Southampton and up to 43 flights per day from all major London airports. Regular shuttle buses travel from the airport to Glasgow city centre daily.

 

In addition both Glasgow Prestwick and Edinburgh International Airports are just 45 minutes drive from Glasgow city centre. Each airport offers a combination of direct train and bus links for both airports to Glasgow city centre.

Travel by Rail 

Glasgow has two major railway stations in the city centre serving routes from the north (Glasgow Queen Street Station) and south (Glasgow Central Station).  Both are well connected to the city’s rail, subway and bus networks for onward travel


Glasgow is served by good rail connections with over 20 trains per day departing from Glasgow Central to London, and with East Coast connections to Edinburgh every 15 minutes during the day. Trains services to Glasgow are available from the following UK destinations:

 

Birmingham, Bournemouth, Cambridge, Cardiff, Darlington, Exeter, Leeds, Newcastle, Manchester, Peterborough, Liverpool, Middlesborough and London.

Travel by Road

 

By Car 


Glasgow is at the centre of a major road hub making access incredibly easy by car. Scotland has an extensive motorway road network and Edinburgh is linked by the M8, England and Wales via the M74, Stirling with the M80, and the west coast of Scotland with the A82 (North) and M77 (South).

 

By Coach 

 

City Link and National Express provide regular coach services to Glasgow from over 24 UK destinations including Bath, Birmingham, Bournemouth, Brighton, Bristol, Cambridge, Canterbury, Cardiff, Leicester, Liverpool, London, Newcastle and Sheffield.
