Ceol ‘s Craic at Celtic Connections

Ceòl 's Craic is the vibrant social hub and platform for contemporary Gaelic culture in Glasgow and is excited to be part of the Celtic Connections programme this January. Join us for three days of workshops, conversation cafés, film, talks, poetry, live music and dancing at the CCA, Sauchiehall St. Highlights include performances from young musicians from the Glasgow Gaelic School over the three nights.

Thursday 20th January

From 6pm Gaelic Folk Song (lecture), Film & Conversation café.  Live performances from 8pm with Brian Ó hEadhra, The Armagh Pipers Club, Irish poet Gearoid McLaughlin, and singer/songwriter Iain Morrison performing with Gaelic poet Daibhidh Martin.

Friday 21st January

From 6pm Gaelic Place Names in Glasgow (lecture), film & Conversation café. Live performance from 8pm with Gaelic singer Cathy-Ann MacPhee, piper Barnaby Brown with Indian singer Prakriti Dutta performing a collaborative piece based on canntaireachd and raga traditions from transcontinental band IndiaAlba, plus The Armagh Pipers Club followed by DJ John Mulhearn.

Saturday 22nd January

From 6pm Migration of Gaels to Glasgow (Lecture), Film & Conversation Café.  Live performance from 8pm with a newly-commissioned piece by Stephen Lawrie (of the Telescopes) and singer Hanna Tuulikki, a pipe and poetry duo from Ronan Browne and Louis de Paor, an exploration of Gaelic and Norwegian song traditions from the band Samling, followed by DJ John Mulhearn.
