Home Library Service

Home Library Service

If you're unable to visit your local library due to disability, long term illness or have caring responsibilities, Glasgow Libraries provides a FREE city-wide personal library service to you at home.

Our staff will visit you to explain the service and discuss your reading or listening tastes, then our trained volunteers will visit you regularly with a selection of books, books on tape and CDs.

We depend on reliable volunteers to provide this important service which makes a real difference to people’s lives. If you can commit to a minimum of one three-hour block each week to visit customers, deliver their choice of library materials and chat to them about their reading tastes, we'd love to hear from you.

Full training is given. Volunteers work in pairs at all times and all prospective volunteers will be subject to an enhanced Disclosure Scotland check.

Contact us for more information if you'd like to receive this service yourself or for someone you know, or if you'd like to volunteer.
