Assistive Technology

Glasgow Libraries provides a variety of access technology products which can help visually and physically impaired people independently access printed and on-line information. From enlarged keyboards and hearing loops to magnifying screen readers and trackballs. For more information contact your local library.

The Mitchell Library is also home to RUVI – the Resource Unit for Visually Impaired People wth a range of access technologies:

  • Aladdin and Merlin video magnifiers

  • Hand held magnifiers

  • ScannaR reading machine and SARA reading machine
    (with Braille display)

  • Plextalk PTX1 audio book play

  • JAWS screen reading software

  • ZoomText magnification softwar

  • Kurzwell 1000 scan and read software
