ECDL - European Computer Driving Licence

Glasgow Libraries offers a self-study course for people who are interested in gaining the ECDL qualification.

The European Computer Driving Licence (ECDL) is the internationally recognised qualification for computer users. Certificated by BCS - The Chartered Institute for IT,  ECDL improves learners’ understanding of computers and promotes efficient use of software. The course opens up a variety of opportunities through the broad range of skills that it provides and the qualification is widely recognised by employers as proof of ability and competence when working with IT.

The course is delivered as an online self-study course and comprises seven modules:
1. IT Security for Users
2. IT User Fundamentals
3. Using the Internet & E-mail
4. Word Processing
5. Spreadsheets
6. Database
7. PowerPoint Presentation
Tutor-support is available through scheduled drop-in sessions, which are held on Wednesdays, 1.30pm – 3.30pm and Saturdays, 09.30am -11.30pm in the Training Suite on Level 3 at The Mitchell Library. This course is also available at Pollok Library on Thursday evenings from 5.00pm - 6.30pm.

Please note that registration for ECDL on a Saturday is now available between 12.30pm - 2pm.
Entry requirements:
Candidates need to have some computer skills as this course combines online learning with drop-in support sessions at The Mitchell Library or Pollok Library. The course is flexible, can be started at anytime and is approved for Individual Training Account funding (ITAs).
