You can read or listen to our collection of eBooks using your computer, eBook reader, mobile phone, iPod and MP3 player.

Getting Started

Our eBooks are available via a system called Overdrive and if you are already a library member you can get started here​To register for the service you must have a Glasgow Libraries membership. If you're not a member it's easy to join - simply visit one of our 33 libraries to register. You can also complete a membership form online although your account will have to be verified at a library before you can access Overdrive eBooks and audio books.

If you're a first time user, please read our Frequently Asked Questions (see right). Overdrive have now also launched an easy to use app called Libby, see next section for more details.

*Note: Overdrive is not compatible with the Amazon Kindle but does work with the Kindle Fire. 

Meet Libby - the new OverDrive app

Overdrive have now launched Libby, a new app to make it even deasier to discover and enjoy ebooks and audiobooks. The one-tap reading app is now available for new users to download and enjoy. A full guide to getting started using 'Libby' is available in the related links section on the right of this page. 


You can borrow up to five eBooks and Audiobooks at a time. When you check out eBooks and Audiobooks, you'll have the option to select a 7, 14 or 21 day loan period. eBooks can be returned early, but will automatically be made inaccessible once they expire. This means that you don't have to remember to return your eBooks at the end of your loan period.

No Fines! 

Borrowed items will delete automatically from your eReader device on the return due date if you don't 'return' it by then. So NO fines will ever be due again when using eBooks or Audio books.

s well as our library's eBook collection, you can access 1,000s of classic titles from Project Gutenberg which can be downloaded and kept for as long as you want.
