What our services provide

  • Macmillan @ Glasgow Libraries
The Macmillan @ Glasgow Libraries services are designed to complement existing health & social care services and to help connect both patients and carers with the right services and support at the right time.

Our Macmillan @ Glasgow Libraries services are available throughout Glasgow and we have developed:

  • Drop-in Services - where anyone affected by Cancer can come along and talk to one of our trained volunteers to access information and support within their local library.
  • Information Points - Macmillan display areas within the libraries are stocked with free information leaflets and booklets to provide information on Cancer to the local community.

'You wouldn't think that a kettle and three sofas could make so much difference. But they do.' Dennis

Our volunteers are trained to provide a listening ear and emotional support as well as signpost and refer onto relevant services.

Sometimes concerns aren’t just about the physical side of cancer but about the emotional or financial side, and then, a friendly and relaxed environment to talk in is what is needed.

Our volunteers do not answer any clinical questions and are trained to know when to refer the service user back to their relevant health care professional and/or the Macmillan Support Line.
