Macmillan are now on SKYPE

For many cancer sufferers and their carers, it can be struggle to leave their homes to access the support and advice they are in need of. Macmillan recognise this and that's why we've been working with SKYPE to offer people affected by cancer an online video service so that they can talk to one of our Macmillan Buddies from the comfort of their own home.

People affected by cancer can either self refer or can be referred via a Health Professional.

The simple process is outlined below:

  1. Visit where you will be asked to set up a profile and enter the question or topic you'd like to discuss.
  2. A Macmillan moderator will view your profile and share it with an appropriate Macmillan Buddy who has been trained to deal with your specific topic.
  3. Your Macmillan Buddy will send you an email asking if you would like to talk and requesting a suitable time to do so.

Anyone wishing to take part must have a computer with a microphone and a webcam, an email address and a broadband internet connection.

As this is a pilot project, we also need those taking part to help us shape the project for the future by giving feedback and answering questions about their experience.
