How to Join

To become a member of Glasgow Libraries and enjoy all the services on offer, simply drop in to your local library and complete a membership form.

Please bring along with you one form of current identification which contains both your name and address, for example:

  • Driving Licence

  • Council Tax Payment Form

  • Rent Book

  • a recent electricity, gas or telephone bill

  • an addressed item which has been received recently through the post 

Alternatively, register online​ then bring your ID to the library on your first visit.

If you don't have ID with you when you visit the library, you can register for Temporary Membership which entitles you to borrow 2 books only or request up to 2 items. You'll be given a library card and personal PIN number and you can use this to access library PCs.

You'll also be able to check your account online and :

  • reserve items  

  • renew items

  • check your loans

On your next visit, after you've shown appropriate ID, you'll receive full membership and increased borrowing entitlement.
