The Genealogy Centre located on the 3rd floor of the Mitchell Library is run by Glasgow City Council Registration Service.  The Centre is open Monday to Friday 9.30 am – 4.00 pm (except public holidays). Information regarding holiday closures will be displayed on our website.

Due to the Centre’s popularity it is recommended to book a space in advance to avoid disappointment on the day.  Bookings can be made in person, by email at genealogy or by calling 0141 287 8364.

The registrar provides the official digitised indexes and images for all of Scotland of the following: the statutory records of births, marriages and deaths; Old Parish Registers, and Census and much more.

The current fee per person is £15.00 per day or part thereof.
