Roll of Honour: Evening Times

During the First World War, Glasgow's Evening Times newspaper printed short biographies of service personnel who were reported lost, missing or wounded

Most of these biographies were accompanied by a photograph of these long gone heroes, often now the only one that exists.

Index to Roll of Honour

The Mitchell Library has produced indexes to these entries as a valuable addition to their Family History resources:

  • The Roll of Honour: Evening Times 1914 and 1915 which is now complete
  • The Roll of Honour: Evening Times 1916-1919 which will continue to be updated regularly.

Both these indexes can be downloaded along with a list of frequently asked questions about the Roll of Honour.

If you are looking for someone who is not yet included, please revisit this page as the 1916-1918 index will be updated regularly.

The Evening Times is held on microfilm in Archives and Special Collections of The Mitchell.
