Introduction To Family History

This 5 week course covers different aspects of family history research:

  • searching and recording your family history
  • introduction to selected online resources including Ancestry
  • introduction to using Scotland’s People
  • resources in The Mitchell Library’s Family History Centre
  • resources session: Archives

You must have basic computer and Internet experience to participate in this course.

Cost: £50 (£30 for concessions) and the course fee includes a voucher to access ScotlandsPeople. The course is held in The Mitchell Library, contact 0141 287 2847 for more information or speak to staff in any library to register interest.  

Beyond The Basics Family History Course   

Wanting to take those next steps? Book our intermediate level family history course which will help you to use archives to discover more about your ancestors.
