About Special Collections

Since The Mitchell Library opened its doors in the original Miller Street premises in 1877, it has acquired a number of interesting and important collections through purchase or donation. Some of these are listed on the left. For information about all the Special Collections housed in The Mitchell Library, please contact the department. Subject strengths include Glasgow, Scottish Literature and early printed books.  Highlights include:
