​Spend a unique afternoon discovering the Treasures of the Mitchell Library’s collections and then enjoy an elegant and indulgent treat with this new twist on the traditional afternoon tea.

Join us each month to explore one of our rare collections and have the opportunity to chat to our librarians about the history and stories that our collections hold. You can then relax and unwind in the refined Old Glasgow Room with an accompanying pianist whilst indulging in a luscious afternoon tea.

This season's programme brings you the following Mitchell Treasures collections:


Robert Burns Collection - Wed 29 January, 2.30pm

The Mitchell holds one the world’s largest collections of Robert Burns material including 14 original manuscripts. Enjoy a private viewing of a selection from the collection.


Annan photographs and Glasgow’s Country Houses - Wed 26 February, 2.30pm

Enjoy Glasgow of yesteryear with illustrations from The Old Country Houses of the Old Glasgow Gentry by Thomas Annan.


William Morris and the Kelmscott press - Wed 26 March, 2.30pm

Enjoy items from the Mitchell’s Kelmscott press collection and their rich illustrations by William Morris.


Foulis Academy- Wed 23 April, 2.30pm

View prints from Glasgow’s first school of fine art, established by Robert and Andrew Foulis in 1753.
