A visit to the Burrell
offers more than its impressive collection of 9,000 objects. Set in the
heart of Pollok Country Park with its extensive woodlands and gardens,
the park includes woodland and riverside walks, a walled garden, the Old
Stable Courtyard and Sawmill, play-park, mountain bike circuit, a
wildlife garden, and Highland cattle.
Spanning 146-hectare (360-acre) and voted
Europe's Best Park 2008, it’s also home to Pollok House, one of
Glasgow’s most elegant family homes, containing an outstanding
collection of antique furniture, silverware, ceramics and Spanish art
with works by Sir William Blake on display from summer 2016.
During the Burrell’s refurbishment, we’ll be bringing you stories, anecdotes, research and discoveries from Pollok Park itself.
