Glasgow Museums has one of the most important collections of works by the French artist Jean-François Millet in Britain. Exhibited together for the first time in 2012, this display allowed us to celebrate the richness of the collection.
This exhibition also looked further - it investigated whether the 11 works by Millet in Burrell’s collection are really Millet.
A team, that included a curator, a photographer and conservators, has examined and researched the Burrell works and their preliminary findings were included in the exhibition.
This display was the first project in preparing a catalogue of Sir William Burrell’s magnificent collection of 19th-century French art.
