Pictured above is Amanda Luoto, illustrator and designer, whose work was displayed in May and June 2012. Originally from China, Amanda has since settled in Scotland after graduating from the Glasgow School of Art in 2009. Her practice Mandarin Duck is in West Kilbride (the craft town of Scotland) where she creates hand printed and painted products. There is a small selection of items for sale in the Burrell shop.
The Burrell Collection includes many wonderful examples of traditional crafts – ceramics, tapestries, embroidery and stained glass to name a few.
These crafts are still very much alive today and being made by Scottish makers.
We have a dispay area at the Burrell Collection to showcase Scottish contemporary crafts and are looking for proposals from both individual craft-makers (particularly Glasgow-based makers) and community groups who would like to exhibit their craft projects. We would especially welcome proposals from groups based in the south of Glasgow.
This is a great way to reach a large audience!
If you would like to make a proposal please download the relevant form using the links on the right hand of this page (there are separate forms for craft-makers and community groups) then submit to the Learning and Access team at the Burrell Collection.
If you have any questions or would like more information contact us by phone or email BurrellL&A@glasgowlife.org.uk.
