About the Exhibition
Kelvingrove Art Gallery and Museum is currently staging the most comprehensive exhibition ever devoted to Scottish artist, Jack Vettriano. This is the first major Vettriano retrospective, bringing together his most definitive and best-loved works gathered for the first time from private collections around the world.
"It will not be without some considerable emotion that I will also be reunited with some of my own paintings; works that span 20 years of my career and many of which I have not seen in years." Jack Vettriano
In this short film clip, Jack Vettriano talks about the films, including Blue Velvet, which have inspired his use of light.
Vettriano's art has been described by Sir Tim Rice as evoking 'an era of Hollywood but no film of that town's heyday was made with Vettriano's burning colour'.
The paintings in the exhibition date from 1992 - 2013 and include familiar works like The Singing Butler, Mad Dogs..., Dance Me To The End of Love and The Billy Boys.
The exhibition runs until Sunday 23 February 2014, with tickets priced at £5 for adults and £3 for concessions.
The exhibition is open Monday to Thursday and Saturday 10.00am-5.00pm and Friday and Sunday 11.00am-5.00pm.
We recommend allowing an hour to fully enjoy the exhibition, which features more than 100 paintings.
Please note that last admission is 4.30pm each day.
