A new purpose-built facility with 6,000 square metres of environmentally controlled storage space.
It would house collections ranging from fine art to botanical specimens.
Visitors would be able to go on regular guided tours, as well as arrange to have a private viewing of an object.
There would also be a library and extensive research facilities.
In the years since being first opened, GMRC has kept expanding in size. It has also expanded the collections it holds and the services it offers to members of the public, museum professionals, and academics.
