Decanting the 200,000 objects from Kelvingrove was a huge task.
Although there had only been 5,000 objects on display, the remainder were held in storage in the basement.
Work was begun on the decant in 2001, when it was anticipated that funding would be approved.
It took 50 staff three years to pack and decant all the objects. They used 7,000 metres of bubble wrap, and filled 2,000 boxes and 3,000 trays of natural history and geological specimens.
Five hundred miles in van trips were covered between Kelvingrove and the Resource Centre at Nitshill.
