In addition to the Kelvingrove New Century Project work, Glasgow Museums Resource Centre (GMRC) in Nitshill on the south side of Glasgow was planned.
The building would house the 200,000 objects from Kelvingrove during the restoration work. There had only been 5,000 objects on display, with the remainder held in storage in the basement.
GMRC would also be the first publicly accessible store for the City’s Museums Service.
