Sir Roger the Asian elephant is one of Kelvingrove's oldest and best-loved exhibits.
From about 1885 until 1897 he toured the country with Bostock & Wombwell's Menagerie. He often pulled a small wagon from town to town.
In 1897 he was moved to the newly established Scottish Zoo and Variety Circus in New City Road, Cowcaddens, Glasgow. He lived there quite happily until October 1900.
