Gods of the Living and the Dead

Ancient Egypt

At the heart of ancient Egyptian religion were the gods Osiris, his sister/wife Isis, their son Horus and brother Seth.

They provided an explanation for the mysteries of:

  • life and death
  • order and chaos, and
  • this world and the next.

Their cults formed a powerful and significant aspect of Egyptian religion. It sustained the ancient Egyptians for thousands of years and even challenged early Christianity.

Today they still provide a source of mystical inspiration and enduring fascination for the New Age.

This story displays powerful cultic objects illustrating this most popular of ancient Egyptian myths.

It provides an understanding of an alternative source of religious inspiration. Its wider moral and spiritual dimensions still have relevance today.
