Sir Roger was a famous Asian elephant.
He toured the country with Bostock and Wombwell’s Menagerie from about 1885 until 1897. He then went to live in the Scottish Zoo in Glasgow.
He eventually became dangerous and had to be shot.
Sir Roger has always been a star attraction in Kelvingrove. He was one of just a few objects to remain in the building while it was being restored around him.
