Facilities for Babies and Small Children
A buggy park is located by the Mini Museum in the centre hall. Baby change facilities are available in all toilets on all floors. Hot water is available from the restaurant for heating milk and food for babies and young children. A private room is available for breastfeeding on request. Please ask at reception.
Kelvingrove now has a Defibrillator, with thanks to The Scottish Ambulance Service, The British Heart Foundation and Glasgow Life
Toilets
There are male and female toilets on each floor level. Accessible toilets are available on each floor. Adult changing facilities are found in the fully accessible toilets on lower and upper ground floors.
Cloakroom
A cloakroom is located on the lower ground floor entrance. Left luggage can be left in the cloakroom for a small charge - dependent on availability.
Object Handling
There are opportunities to touch or handle objects within the galleries – these will be clearly signed. The Discovery Centres will allow visitors to investigate and explore objects further, with more handling opportunities - you may be asked to wear gloves.
Object Identification Service
Kelvingrove offers the service to have an object or objects identified by a duty curator - Monday to Thursday between 10am and 4.30pm, Friday 11am to 4.30pm. Objects may be left at Kelvingrove or direct contact can be made with the relevant curator, who may be based at another of Glasgow Museums’ buildings. We cannot accept objects at weekends, and objects are left at the owner's risk. Please note that we are unable to give valuations.
Research facilities
Research facilities are available in the Study Centre, where there is access to computers and to the Public Access System, as well as access to reference books. The Public Access System provides you with further information on objects in Kelvingrove.
Other Information
Wheelchairs are available at reception for visitors to use.
There are two shops in Kelvingrove for a wide range of souvenirs, publications and gifts will be available.
There is a public telephone on the lower ground floor, beside the Kelvingrove café restaurant.
The conference room is located on the lower ground floor of Kelvingrove Art Gallery and Museum. The maximum capacity is 100. For enquiries please call 0141 276 9541.
