What Glasgow Means to Me, Danny

What Glasgow Means to me

By Danny

When I was born, I tasted it with my first breath
It was the first thing I ever saw, smelt, heard or tasted.
I bathed in its waters
I ate in its waters
I ate its food
I went to its schools
I played in its streets
I reached puberty there
I wore its clothes
I walked its streets
I worked its factories
I saw its sun rise and set
I saw its seasons
I saw its times change
I became part of it
It became part of me
I fathered its children
I travelled its buses
I basked in its summers
I shivered in its winters
I belong to it
It belongs to me
I will live my life out in it
In sickness and in health
‘Til death do us part
