Fur Coat from Possil

My lovely fur coat came from Possil. I’ve only been twice. My fur coat arrived in my life in my twenties. My Maryhill friend bought a Mushquash when she came home from Canada and decided we would need one to set off our ball dresses.
Her mother ran a ménage in the district and her friend’s daughter had a coat she was willing to part with – a broken romance I think.
I fell in love with this Mink Marmot – soft, red, long-haired wonderful shawl-collared wrap around straight away, silky to the touch. I can feel it now. It was fabulous, shiny and warm. I felt a million dollars going to the big dances. I sold it years later off Byres Road and it is possibly a theatre prop now. That night in celebration I tasted the Granny’s elderberry wine – that was something else.
