The Greater Pollok Carers Creative Writing Group is a group of residents from the Pollok area of Glasgow.
Since their first meeting in 2004, together they have discovered a shared interest in writing and telling stories. This has brought them both fun and relaxation, finding great comfort and support in each other’s company.
Meeting once a week to share stories from their lives and imaginations the group initially had little experience as creative writers. However, the group’s confidence and writing ability has since grown with the support of Glasgow Life’s Community Learning team.
The group has now published two books. Members have performed their stories and plays across Glasgow, including at the Mitchell Library’s literary festival,
Aye Write!
The Greater Pollok Carers Creative Writing Group have enjoyed the challenges and satisfaction of writing and performing their work. And they are keen for others to get involved and reap the benefits of creative writing.
