At Riverside Museum we have tried to bring the best of the old museum of transport along with new and imaginative ways of displaying and interpreting the collections.
Much research has been carried out about likes and dislikes at the old museum of transport as well as investigating what people would like to see at the new Riverside Museum.
The main results of what visitors want were:
more reconstructed streets
more access onto locomotives and trams
more interactive and hands-on exhibits
more information about the displays
So, at Riverside Museum there is:
not one but three streets with access to the "shops"
access platforms to all locomotives
over 90 large touch screens full of images, memories and films and over 20 interactive hands-on exhibits
interactives that tell the stories of the exhibits
