Reach Us On Foot

Riverside Museum is on the North bank of the River Clyde, just along the Clydeside from the SECC going towards Partick (West). Click here to plan your walking route.

By Ferry

A FREE ‘on demand’ ferry service links the Riverside Museum and Govan/Govan Stones at the Old Govan Church during the summer months.  Keep visiting our website for updates about the 2016 schedule.

By Bicycle

National Cycle Route 7 leaves Glasgow by following the River Clyde to Dumbarton and then heads to Inverness via Aberfoyle, Callander, Killin, Pitlochry, Kingussie, Aviemore and Carrbridge. There are bicycle racks to secure up to 28 bikes located close to the Museum.

By Bus

Hop on board the Glasgow Citybus 100 Riversider service anywhere between George Square, SECC, Kelvingrove Art Gallery and Museum and Riverside Museum - runs every 30 minutes. See timetable for details.

By Coach

There is a coach drop-off point adjacent to the bus stop and designated coach parking throughout the year for schools, tour operators and care groups.

By Subway & Train

Why not park at one of the Park & Ride Underground Stations: Bridge Street, Kelvinbridge or Shields Road. Riverside Museum is then only a 10 minute walk from Partick subway station - exit onto Beith Street behind the station and follow the signs to Riverside Museum.

Click here for more information on costs and timetable.

The nearest Train Station for main-line trains is Partick Station, then it's around a 10 minutes walk to Riverside Museum.

By Car

From the M8 motorway, take Junction 19 and travel west bound along the Clydeside Expressway (A814) for about one mile to Pointhouse road. Then turn left into the Riverside Car Park area.

There is a Pay & Display car park at Riverside:

  • £1 for a 4 hour maximum stay
  • 12 spaces reserved for blue badge holders, free of charge with no time restrictions
  • designated parent and child spaces

Disabled drop off point for the Riverside Museum - via the slipway road (to the right as you drive onto the Riverside site).  The Tall Ship disabled drop off point is the access road left of the museum.

Please only park in a designated parking bay in the museum car park. Glasgow City Council parking attendants regularly patrol the area and will issue parking tickets to vehicles parked outwith designated spaces.

Event Days

The car park can quickly become full on special event days. On these occasions, we recommend using the Pay & Display car park at Kelvin Hall, Bunhouse Road (the previous home of the Museum of Transport). It's then only a 15 minute signposted walk to Riverside.

The parking charge is the same as at the museum - £1 for 4 hours. Please note that this fee only applies within the car park, the onstreet spaces on Bunhouse Road are charged at a higher rate.
