Scotland Street School Museum is committed to working towards becoming a sustainable building through managing its environmental impact.
In September 2014, we were delighted to achieve our Silver Award from the Green Tourism Business Scheme. To achieve this level, we have made substantial energy savings within our museum. These have been gained through a lighting review & wattage reduction programme, a highly effective `switch off` campaign, better pipe lagging & major window refurbishment, were all part of our work towards this Silver Award.
The Green Room is an outstanding new aspect of the museum experience from which visitors will take away many positive messages including excellent creative family activities, making lovely things from waste and adding a leaf to our Green Tree. Recycling systems have been established as well as other waste minimisation measures too.
We are proud of this award, and hope that we can inspire you to become a littel greener.
You can see our Green Policy for Scotland Street School Museum in the Related Documents section on the right of this page. We will also post details of our progress here.
