Home for Music

Glasgow’s Concert Halls: Home to Celtic Connections, to Scotland’s national orchestras and a platform for musicians from all around the globe.

Our iconic venues are a potent symbol of Glasgow’s musical riches, recognised nationally and internationally; a powerful engine for music more widely and a fitting focal point for Scotland’s musical capital.

In the coming years we aim to build on the fine achievements of recent decades to go further, deeper, wider with a programme that creates opportunities for musicians and music lovers alike, and make these halls truly a Home for Music.

Sites and Sounds

Match music to an ideal performance space and the results can be miraculous. We are lucky to be able to give you different venues and kinds of music to hear in them – and the galleries and museums of Glasgow open up yet more possibilities which we look forward to exploring.

A Time There Was

Glasgow’s Concert Halls in partnership with BBC Radio 3 dedicates a series of Sunday afternoon chamber music concerts in the City Halls, leading off with A Time There Was... four concerts which look back to the golden years of English composition before and between the wars. Elgar, Vaughan Williams, Finzi are among the featured composers.

Minimalism is the most radical, ‘new’ and influential movement in music of the past 60 years. Over the coming three years Glasgow’s Halls will ring to the sound of its iconic masterworks and its latest incarnations.

Portrait of the Composer

Portrait of the Composer is a series of extended concerts which will throw light on the lives and works of great composers, and offer world class performances of their work. In our first season we will feature Bach, Mozart, Chopin, Brahms and Dillon.

Kronos Quartet

Over the last 30 years, the Kronos Quartet has constantly challenged the boundaries and conventions of classical music. In May 2011, Glasgow’s Concert Halls is delighted to welcome them for a long weekend of music featuring new work by Steve Reich and much more.

A World of Music

The wide, wide world is closer than it has ever been and to perform live in our city, we’ll bring you musicians whose traditions are rooted in far distant places, rising from different cultures, faiths and ways of living.
