City Halls

Portrait of a Composer at Glasgow's City HallsCity Halls

At the centre of Glasgow's new 'cultural quarter' in the Merchant City, City Halls has a long and illustrious past. Dating from as far back as 1841, it is the city's oldest, but most well loved, purpose built performance and meeting space.

"What a pleasure to make recordings in this Hall! Not only are the acoustics marvellous for concerts but they are particularly good for recording. Thank you also for the services which the new hall provides so freely!"

Sir Charles Mackerras

This exciting music complex reopened in 2006 following extensive renovation ands houses top class rehearsal, recording, broadcasting and webcasting facilities.

As a hub of creativity, a jam-packed programme of public workshops and classes has already benefited everyone from babies, toddlers and school groups to amateur and professional musicians.
