Fitness fans brought Glasgow’s iconic Buchanan Street to a standstill today as they gave shoppers a preview of SH’BAM – the latest dance-inspired workout that is taking the fitness world by storm.
Dressed in bright pink the dancers worked out to a track from the SH’BAM classes that will be available from this Saturday at Glasgow Club facilities across the city including Bellahouston, Castlemilk Pool, Crownpoint, Drumoyne, Emirates Arena, Gorbals, Holyrood, Maryhill, Milton, Pollok, Scotstoun, Springburn and Whitehill.
The introduction of SH’BAM takes take the number of fitness classes being delivered across the Glasgow Club network to over 1,000. Saturday also sees the launch of CXWORX - a short sharp 30 minute low impact and low cardio workout to strengthen and tone your body and the relaunch of RPM - the indoor cycling workout where you ride to the rhythm of powerful music. Please visit www.glasgowlife.org.uk for further information on the fitness classes available in the city.
A typical SH'BAM class is 45-minutes long with twelve different tracks. Each track features unique choreography and is essentially its own stand-alone dance routine. The workout increases cardiovascular fitness through interval training, improves co-ordination and burns fat.
Set to a soundtrack of chart-topping popular hits, dance music that is heard in nightclubs around the world, familiar classics remixed and modernised Latin beats, SH’BAM is the ultimate fun and sociable way to exercise. Every SH'BAM class is vibrant, unique and varied and burns on average 500 calories per session.
SH’BAM Instructor Lorraine Inglis said: “We are always looking for new ways to get people more active and SH’BAM definitely fits the bill. It is fast and fun and you don’t have to be a dancer to take part – our coaches will give you all the training you need.”
To mark Saturday’s fitness class launch the Glasgow Club is holding an East v West challenge at the Glasgow Club Emirates Arena and the Glasgow Club Scotstoun giving people the chance to try out all three classes for free.
