Would be runners and keep fit fanatics have until Friday (24 June) to take advantage of discounted entry prices for the 2011 Bank of Scotland Great Scottish Run – the largest mass participation sporting event in the country.
Thousands of people from across the world, from first-time runners to elite athletes have already signed up for the challenge and organisers are urging people to play their part in Scotland's biggest running festival.
The Bank of Scotland Great Scottish Run has something for all the family and people of all abilities with the 10k and half marathon races on Sunday 4 September and the 1.5k and 3k junior races on Saturday 3 September. Scotland's elite wheelchair athletes will also be taking part in 1.5k and 3k races on the Sunday.
Race weekend is just over two months away but participants who take advantage of the early bird offer will receive discounted rates starting from £25 for the half marathon and £20 for the 10k providing an extra incentive for those taking part. To mark the end of the 'early bird' offer some of those who have already signed up for the Bank of Scotland Great Scottish Run took part in jogscotland's 5k fun run in Glasgow Green this week.
And as if runners needed any more encouragement there is also the opportunity to run through Glasgow's iconic George Square, across the Kingston Bridge through the streets of the city before finishing in Glasgow Green.
