Les Sirenes Summer Concert at Glasgow Royal Concert Hall

Award winning choir Les Sirenes will present a concert exploring the wealth of music for female voices in the New Auditorium of Glasgow Royal Concert Hall on Friday 2 June.

Presented by Glasgow UNESCO City of Music, the concert includes work by Morten Lauridsen, the most frequently performed American choral composer in modern history.

Taking in a fantastic range of styles, the choir will also perform Autumn Evening by Paul Mealor – acclaimed composer of the Military Wives Choir and Gareth Malone Number 1 hit Wherever You Are - and songs by US pop legend Billy Joel.

The programme also features music by acclaimed Hungarian composer Miklós Kocsár, and contemporary Canadian composers Sarah Quartel and Stephen Hatfield, among others.

Winners of the 2012 BBC Choir of the Year Award, Glasgow-based Les Sirenes is a female chamber choir consisting of 30 vocalists, all students and graduates of the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland.

Christopher Barr, Music Programmer, Glasgow Life, said:  “The Les Sirenes Summer Concert promises an evening of uplifting music, chosen to showcase the brilliance and range of one of Scotland’s leading choirs.

“With a diverse programme of music from leading choral composers and musicians whose work lends itself perfectly to choral arrangements, I would encourage everyone to join us for a great night out.”
