Glasgow Museums Welcome almost 3.4 Million Visitors

​Glasgow Museums feature heavily in the latest list of the UK’s most popular attractions issued by the Association of Leading Visitor Attractions. The 2012 figures show Glasgow has 2 museums which each attracted more than a million visitors, Kelvingrove Art Gallery and Museum and Riverside Museum, and that across all 9 museums, visitor numbers rose to almost 3.4 million.
The People’s Palace and Glasgow Museums Resource Centre enjoyed the biggest year on year increases with visitor numbers up 24.67 % and 23.63% respectively. Overall, visitor numbers at Glasgow Museums welcomed 3, 363, 646 visitors, an increase of 0.52% in 2012. 
Councillor Archie Graham, the Chair of Glasgow Life, said: “Glasgow’s civic museums enjoyed almost 3.4 million visits in the last year. For more than three decades, the city has recognised the importance of investing in our museums’ treasures, not only for our citizens but in confirming Glasgow’s status as a world-class cultural destination.”
