Genie-us family panto swoops into Glasgow

It's that time of year again when families start thinking about panto tickets – oh yes it is!

And this year, Glasgow Arts is taking their genie-us tale Aladdin on the road, bringing the richest panto of them all to community venues across Glasgow.

Part of the exciting Glasgow Loves Christmas campaign, this uniquely Glaswegian take on Aladdin, promises to sprinkle some panto magic across the city with plenty of thrills, spills, wicked tricks and even the promise of the odd wish or two being granted.

Councillor Archie Graham, Chair of Glasgow Life, said: “Christmas is a time for families, fun and laughter and I can think of no better way to celebrate the joy of the festive season than by coming together to enjoy this wonderful Christmas pantomime.

“I’m delighted that we are able to bring this magical tale to the people of Glasgow and with tickets priced from just £2 this fantastic production offers a wonderful opportunity to introduce young Glaswegians to the arts.”

Scripted by John Binnie and directed by Bill Wright the production, set in a market in downtown Glasgow, follows the story of Aladdin and Princess Jasmine as they embark on a fantastic journey to outwit Evil Abanazer, with a little help from the magical Genie.

The community tour kicks off at Barmulloch Community Centre on Tuesday, 29th November and visits fourteen more community venues across the city, from Drumchapel to Barlanark, until Saturday, 17th December.

So, what are you waiting for? Grant your family’s wishes and hop on your magic carpet to the panto this Christmas.

Aladdin forms part of the Glasgow Loves Christmas campaign. It incorporates Glasgow's unrivalled shopping offer and celebrated Style Mile as well as a programme of festive events all taking place at the city's famous and much-loved George Square and throughout the city.

Tickets are on sale from Wednesday, 26th October priced £3/£2, and are available directly from the participating Community Centres. To find out when Aladdin is coming to a venue near you, please visit
