The fitness team at Glasgow Club are always keen to find different ways to keep you entertained when you are working out. We know it can be a bit tedious sometimes, so we tend to find it’s good to give yourself a goal.
Give yourself a goal
The Glasgow Club Springburn invited its members to journey from one end of Britain to the other without having to leave the gym. By simply recording the distances on the cardio machines whenever they were in the gym the members were able to avoid the rain, wind and crazy drivers and still achieve an amazing feat. As you would expect the most popular machine to use was the bike but cross trainer, treadmill and rower were also well used.
A route was plotted in and out of some of Britain’s favourite spots and displayed across the length of one of the walls in the gym. It spanned over 4 metres complete with pictures of towns passed through on the way and distances between each.
The Leading Pack
Three of our members really took the challenge to heart and have been pounding away at the miles. Nuala McGloin, Kathy Dale and Stuart Downie have all started to move away from the field, all vying for the yellow jersey.
They’re all rapidly approaching Lands End, the final destination, having started in John O’Groats back in April.
Well done to everyone who has taken part and good luck to everyone who has the end – and the sea, metaphorically speaking, in sight.
