The outstanding coastal scenery of North Antrim will be a delight, many of the myths and legends of Ireland have their roots in this fascinating county. Based in the award winning hostel at Bushmills we will explore the county on foot taking in the Causeway Coast path which is the most interesting and varied coastline in Ireland as well as a visit to the World Heritage Site, the “Giants Causeway”. Access to the stones is free but not the visitor centre.
We will also find time to visit one of Ireland’s most romantic castle locations, Dunluce and the famous Carrick-a-Rede rope bridge . We also hope to take a boat trip to Rathlin island to visit the renowned RSPB site at Kebble on the west side (weather dependent). Ending with a shorter walk to the magnificent basalt amphitheatre at Sallagh Braes . This will be a memorable trip.
Thursday: Depart Glasgow. Travel day
Friday: Carrick-A-Rede to Giants Causeway (14 miles) Taking our time on the longer mileage days with the option to shorten if necessary.
Saturday: Rathlin island tour (8 - 10 miles)
Sunday: Port Path & Dunluce Castle (14 miles)
Monday: Sallagh Braes / free time (7 miles)
Ferry from Larne 16.30pm
Return Glasgow late on Monday
Cost includes return ferry from Cairnryan, transport and accommodation (not inclusive of visitor attraction entry charges (which are optional) & the Rathlin island ferry approx £11.60 return). Some of these walks may be subject to change.
