Getting Started in Basketball
A 6 hour course that includes the basics of coaching basketball to a novice coach. The Getting Started Award is aimed at those looking for a basic introduction to the game.

UKCC Level 1 Course
This course allows you to assist more qualified coaches in delivering aspects of coaching sessions. This process is normally under direct supervision.
Please Note: All candidates will be required to complete 3 Coaching Sessions between Day 1 and Day 2 of the Course.
Sessions must be witnessed by a coach which senior coach which could be a Head Teacher/Coach etc.

UKCC Level 2 Course
This level of coaching qualification provides a prospective coach with a general overview of all aspects of basketball coaching. It also enables the holder to work independently to plan, deliver and review basketball coaching sessions without supervision.
Candidates are required to be a minimum of 18yrs of age and hold the UKCC Level 1 or equivalent.

Basketball Level 1 Table Officials Course
The Level 1 Award is designed for introducing basketball table officiating to candidates of age 12 years or older. Candidates attending the course are shown the basics of table officiating according to FIBA rules on the disciplines of Scorer and Timer
These courses can also be programmed on request.
Basketball Level 2 Table Officials Course
The Level 2 Award is designed for experienced basketball Level 1 Table Officials who are age 14 years or older. Candidates attending the course are further developed on the skills of Scorer and Timer roles (following on from the level 1 course), and introduced to the full aspects of 24 Second Shot Clock Operator according to FIBA rules.
Basketball Level 1 Referees
The Level 1 Referee Award is designed for “would be” Youth National League and Senior Local League referees over the age of 16. Candidates attending the course are shown the basic rules of the game, official signals, mechanics and how to control a game of basketball. Candidates are also advised how to conduct themselves on the court as a referee and expectations of officials
This course is delivered over 2 days from 09.00-16.00 and can be programmed on request. Pre-registration with Basketball Scotland is essential..
Getting Started in Refereeing
£25 (1 day), £30 (2 day)
The Getting Started Referee Award is designed for
introducing basketball refereeing to candidates of any age (14 years or
above). Candidates attending the course are shown the basic rules of the
game, official signals, mechanics of refereeing and how to recognize
violations and different types of fouls during a game of basketball.
Candidates are also advised how to conduct themselves on the court as a
referee and expectations of officials.
This course is suited for senior school pupils, teachers, parents, college / university students, current players and retired players
This course can be delivered in 1 day or over 2 consecutive days and is 6.5 hours in total.
Funding support is available for volunteers and Glasgow residents through our grants programme.
