Positive Coaching Scotland

 What is Positive Coaching Scotland?

Glasgow Sport is working with coaches and clubs in the city on the Positive Coaching Scotland (PCS) programme to create a positive environment in youth sport – one which focuses on encouraging effort and learning, improving performance and fostering competition. This focus helps young people to understand the importance of effort rather then winning at all costs.

The programme involves key influencers in a young person’s life in sport – coaches, teachers, parents and club leaders.

The Positive Coaching Scotland ethos

  1. The first goal is to redefine winning
  2. The second goal is to teach young people important, character building, life lessons through sport

What do Coaches say about PC?

“PCS fits perfectly with the ethos of the club, it is trying to give each individual the positive side of coaching, no matter how little or how much they achieve. You are trying to give every single person that participates a positive goal in their sport”

Charles Hunter, Ronin Karate Club
