Step 2 - Full Closure
In preparation for the full refurbishment of Glasgow Club Tollcross the remainder of the centre will close on Sunday 11th December. The dry side facilities which have remained open since the pool shut its doors on 23rd October will now close and work will begin on redeveloping the it into one of Glasgow’s most important sporting venues.
But don't worry your fitness won’t be affected. The Glasgow Club has 23 other venues across the city, five within four miles and as members you can use them all.
Gyms and swimming pools
There are four gyms not far from Glasgow Club Tollcross ideal for keeping your fitness up. Glasgow Club Gorbals (61 or 240 bus), Easterhouse and Pool (40 or 46 bus), Whitehill (no.8 bus) and Harthill (No.8 bus) are all within a short bus ride.
As an added bonus Glasgow Club Whitehill will open a brand new gym and fitness studio in January. (Remember there is more customer parking behind Glasgow Club Whitehill). The opening times at Glasgow Club Haghill and Glasgow Club Easterhouse have also been extended to ensure you don’t miss out.
Fitness Classes
The fitness class programme, which will actually finish on Friday 9th December, that is so popular at Glasgow Club Tollcross has moved to various venues across the east of the city. We have re-housed over 80% of the classes, although the majority will not resume till after the festive period on 9th January. Reopening
The new venue, which is a major undertaking by Glasgow City Council and Glasgow Life, and is a major investment at £14m, is expected to reopen in Spring 2013. When it’s finished the new centre will boast two 50 metre swimming pools; one of the biggest gyms in the city with over 100 pieces of equipment; a refurbished games hall and brand new dance studio as well as a range function spaces making it ideal for both elite competition and community health and fitness.
