More than 40 grassroots club coaches from all over Glasgow attend workshop designed to support the move from 7v7 to 11v11 football
13/05/2014

On Monday 12th May, more than 40 grassroots club coaches from all over Glasgow came to Glasgow Green for a Scottish FA 11-a-side Player pathway workshop designed to support the move from 7v7 to 11v11 football.

Delivered by Glasgow Sport's Football Development Officers Gary Hocknull, Stephen Clarke and Stuart Smith, the coaches were treated to a presentation providing background information and coaching updates. A practical session then followed on the pitch introducing them to some training and tactical techniques for their teams.

The sessions involved how to help children understand the function of different formations such as 4-4-2- and 4-3-3 and ideas on how to help the players understand the transition from the small sided game.

The coaches will have the chance to see their teams in 11v11 action for the first time on Wednesday night as Glasgow and District Youth Football League host the first Transition festival at Glasgow Green for the 2002 age group teams that will start their new league from August.
