Departs from the Kelvin Hall at 8.30am. ​Start walking into the new year around this wonderful estate in Dumfries and Galloway.

Deil's Cauldron
Sunday 12th January 
Departs from the Glasgow Club Gorbals at 9am. ​A popular and splendid atmospheric gorge loop by Comrie.

Moderate: 8 Miles

Saturday 18th January 
Departs from the Kelvin Hall at 8.30am. ​A very pleasing walk with an exciting wee climb up to the trig point starting from Rumbling Bridge.

Croy Beach and Culzean Castle grounds
Sunday 19th January
Departs from the Glasgow Club Gorbals at 9am. ​From Croy shoreline to this wonderful and varied estate.

Saturday 25th January
Departs from the Kelvin Hall at 8.30am. ​A perfect first hill for 2014 and suitable for an introductory hill walk as not too long. Start Glen Ample.

Departs from the City Chambers at 9am. ​ An excellent organic garden with gentle walks and views over the Fith of Fourth.

St. Fillans Loop
Saturday 1st February 
Departs from the Kelvin Hall at 8.30am. A bit more effort required as we walk into open higher country on this cracking loop via Glen Tarken and the woods.

Moderate: 6.5 miles

Beinn Dubh 642m
Sunday 2nd February 
Departs from the Glasgow Club Gorbals at 9am. A ‘classic’ hill circuit around Glen Striddle with smashing views above Loch Lomond, a short steep descent. Must be hill fit but shorter route with no technical difficulty.

Danevale Park, Castle Douglas
Thursday 27th February
Departs from the City Chambers at  9am.  A hidden gem of a garden beside the River Dee and subject to conditions we should be able to walk in drifts of snowdrops, the garden having one of the finest displays in Scotland.

March 2014

Saturday 1st March
Departs from the Kelvin Hall at 8.30am. Longer drive but worth it to walk along this simply lovely easy Perthshire glen in early Spring with superb café option at Blair Atholl Castle afterwards.

Moderate: 9 miles (Note earlier start time)

Departs from the Glasgow Club Gorbals at 8am. The perfect moderate walk worth repeating time and again. Pass through these two atmospheric glens in Glencoe surrounded by dramatic and looming hills. Could be wet underfoot.

Saturday 8th March
Departs from the Kelvin Hall at 8.30am. Several options of ascent from Glen Falloch, a tougher climb.

Neidpath Castle and the Tweed
Sunday 9th March
Departs from the Glasgow Club Gorbals at 9am. Heading upstream from Peebles on this enchanting walk with one incline to viewpoint, back along the opposite bank of the river.

Departs from the Glasgow Club Gorbals at 9am. Gain 2 tops Glenleith Fell 612m and Wedder Law 672m. Dumfries and Galloway near Thornhill. All good paths.

Saturday 22nd March
Departs from the Kelvin Hall at 8.30am. Leven to Elie passing around Largo Bay on this better section of the Fife Coastal Trail. Linear route.

Departs from the Glasgow Club Gorbals at 8.30am. From Pubil in upper Glen Lyon an enjoyable mountain with a fantastic circular northern corrie enclosing Lochan nan Cat. A Munro.

Departs from the City Chambers at 9am. An excellent teaching garden where young people learn practical gardening skills, good walking amongst a feast of plants in different settings.

Departs from the Kelvin Hall at 8.30am. A delightful walk along a disused railway, woodland and coastal tracks to Gullane, a linear walk.
